Canadian regulators have approved a request by Air Canada to operate flights between Canada and Belize, according to Canadian Transportation Agency documents.
The documents do not specify routes or a start date, and Air Canada did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The approval applies to Air Canada, Air Canada Cargo and the company's low-fare Rouge unit.
Air Canada has not served Belize since at least 2005, the earliest available year of FlightGlobal schedules data.
WestJet, however, launched its first Belize flight – between Toronto and Belize City – in October 2016. WestJet will operate that route seasonally through April, schedule data shows.
