MRO provider AAR has further expanded its inventory of ATR equipment, announcing it has acquired Island Air's inventory of ATR parts and related tooling.

Illinois-based AAR says it will integrate Island Air's equipment into its global network, and distribute the parts from facilities in the USA, Singapore and Hanover, Germany,

The move follows AAR's entry into the ATR parts market earlier this year when the company acquired the ATR parts inventory of ACLAS Global, a subsidiary of Dublin-based ASL Aviation Holdings.

At the time, AAR also signed an agreement to provide power-by-the-hour support to ASL, which owns airline companies with operations in Belgium, France, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland and Hungary, according to its website.

AAR's acquisition also comes about six weeks after Island Air announced it had replaced its entire fleet of five ATR 72-600s with five Bombardier Q400s.

Island Air announced on 16 October that it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
