Czech Republic airframer Aero Vodochody has signed separate business deals for the L-39 Albatros trainer with Vietnam and Slovakia.

In Vietnam, Aero Vodochody has appointed state-owned firm New Technological Appliance One Member Company to supply 300 spare parts for L-39s from November 2011.

The deal will also see two Aero Vodochody engineers visit Vietnam. They will inspect and, if necessary, repair two of the Vietnamese air force's L-39Cs to extend their service lives. They will also provide training to New Technological Appliance staff and install "monitoring system FAU-39" on the aircraft. The nation's air force has an active fleet of 26 L-39Cs, as listed in Flightglobal's MiliCAS database.

Aero Vodochody also has signed a deal with the Slovak defence ministry to extend the airframe life of the Slovakian air force's L-39Z trainers. MiliCAS reports the service as having nine of the type.
