Alaska Airlines’ regional partner Horizon Air will begin flights from Boise to Reno and from Los Angeles to both Monterey (California) and Gunnison (Colorado) later this year.
The Seattle-based carrier will begin the once daily Los Angeles-Monterey and Boise-Reno service on 5 November. It will offer seasonal twice-weekly Los Angeles-Gunnison service from 16 December through 26 March 2016, the carrier says.
Horizon Air will operate all of the flights with 76-seat Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 turboprops.
Alaska will compete from Los Angeles to Monterey with American Airlines and United Airlines, Innovata schedules show.
No other carriers fly from Los Angeles to Gunnison or from Boise to Reno, according to Innovata.
Southwest Airlines discontinued Reno-Boise service in 2013.
Separately, Alaska finalised plans to increase capacity between Los Angeles and Loreto, Mexico. It will replace Q400s four days per week with Boeing 737s while the turboprop continues to operate flights on the remaining three days from 1 November.
