An American Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft has overrun the runway while landing at Kingston's Norman Manley International airport.

Preliminary reports suggest there are no serious injuries, says American. The aircraft, flight number 331, was carrying 148 passengers and a crew of six.

Local media reports suggest that 40 passengers were injured in the incident.

The flight originated in Ronald Reagan Washington National and stopped at Miami before flying on to Kingston, says American.
