Bond Offshore Helicopters has joined forces with fixed-wing operator Loganair to offer North Sea oil and gas workers a seamless route from Aberdeen to platforms in the northern North Sea.
Workers will check in at the mainland airport before being transported on a fixed-wing aircraft to Sumburgh in the Shetland Isles for onward travel offshore on one of Bond’s rotorcraft, likely to be an Airbus Helicopters AS332 L2.
The inaugural flight took place on 7 December. Since then, more than 250 passengers have flown the new route.
Rival Bristow Helicopters has already been offering similar end-to-end services through its combined rotary- and fixed-wing operations. Bristow holds a 60% stake in scheduled carrier Eastern Airways.
