Colorful Guizhou Airlines has signed a 12-year maintenance support contract with CFM International for the Leap-1A engines that will power its Airbus A320neo fleet.

The contract, signed on the sidelines of French president Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to China, will cover engines on up to 35 A320neos the airline will operate, under the Rate-Per-Flight-Hour (RPFH) agreement, as well as five spare engines.

CFM says the agreement is valued at about $1 billion at list price.

At this year’s Paris Air Show, Colorful Guizhou signed a lease for its first four A320neos from US lessor GECAS. Cirium’s fleet data shows it now operates one A320neo, alongside nine Embraer E190s.
