Contact lost with Lion Air 737 Max 8

Flight tracking web sites indicate that contact has been lost with a Lion Air Boeing 737 Max 8 operating the Jakarta-Pangkal Pinang route.

The aircraft (PK-LQP) departed at 06:20 local time operating flight JT610. Local media indicates that contact was lost 13 minutes after takeoff. The aircraft was scheduled to land at 07:20. Reports suggest 180 people are onboard.

Media reports from Indonesia indicate that the aircraft has crashed, but this has yet to be confirmed by the airline or Indonesian officials. Media reports suggest that Indonesian rescue agency Basarnas will hold a press conference within the hour.

Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that the aircraft was delivered on 13 August 2018, and bears serial number 43000. It is equipped with 180 seats.
