Eclipse 500

The Eclipse 500 may be far from the large, luxury jets favoured by many in the Middle East, but Eclipse Aerospace believes there is a big market for "personal aviation" in the region.

The reborn very light twinjet - now dubbed the Total Eclipse - is making its first appearance at the show after the collapse of Vern Raburn's original Eclipse Aircraft. The new company has secured five commitments from "more than one" Middle Eastern customer.

Eclipse Aerospace executive vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Ekim Alptekin said: "Many assumed the UAE was an unlikely market for an efficient jet like the Total Eclipse. We are proud to prove them wrong. With these orders UAE businessmen prove that they care about efficiency as much as anyone else."
