FARNBOROUGH: Holland selects MQ-9 Reaper for RPA requirement

The Netherlands will obtain the General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft for an air force requirement.

"We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to meet the UAS requirements of the Royal Netherlands Air Force," says Linden Blue, chief executive of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. “We are committed to providing a NATO-interoperable solution that enhances the ISR capabilities of the Netherlands and the Alliance."

General Atomics did not specify the number of airframes, but in 2015 the US Department of State approved the sale of four MQ-9 Block 5 aircraft – as well as related equipment and services – for $339 million.

The MQ-9 is in service with Dutch allies including France, Italy, the UK and USA.
