UK-based mission training specialist Inzpire is a small company in big demand, according to chief executive Hugh Griffiths, who signed its first ever cooperation agreement with a major partner on the opening day of the Farnborough air show.
“We’re being approached by all the primes all the time,” he said, shortly after putting pen to paper with Thales UK vice-president avionics Stephen McCann. “This is a marriage made in heaven,” he adds.
With around 100 employees – 80% of which are former UK military personnel, including fixed-wing and fast jet pilots – Inzpire provides detailed simulation services to support mission training on UK types such as the Army Air Corps’ Boeing-Westland Apache AH1 attack helicopter and the RAF’s Eurofighter Typhoon. It also provides the GECO air mission support system now being used by RAF crews flying Airbus Helicopters’ Puma HC2 transports, and works with the UK Air Warfare Centre.
For its part, Thales – which provides simulators and training services on platforms like the RAF’s Airbus A330 Voyager, A400M and Panavia Tornado GR4 – is gaining the assistance of a company with “deep knowledge of the tactical side,” McCann says.
Under the cooperation agreement, the companies will be pursuing new business opportunities in the UK and on the international market. Inzpire already counts customers including the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
