FARNBOROUGH: Morocco signs for AIM-9X missiles

Raytheon's AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder air-to-air missile has scored another direct hit on the international stage, with Morocco having ordered the weapon for integration with its Lockheed Martin F-16 fighters.

Announced at the Farnborough air show, Morocco's signature of a letter of offer and acceptance for the new-generation weapon makes it the 10th nation to have committed to the AIM-9X.

So far ordered by four countries, the Block II missile is currently in its operational testing phase.

Flightglobal's MiliCAS database records the Royal Moroccan Air Force as having so far received 16 F-16C/Ds from a combined order for 24 aircraft.
