Bombardier has delivered the first of four Global 5000s for use by the German ministry of defence on VIP transport and medevac flights.

The aircraft was delivered to German Operating Aircraft Leasing (GOAL) on 25 August.

It will be operated by the ministry of defence's Special Mission Wing, replacing 24-year-old Bombardier Challenger 601s.

The remaining aircraft, part of a 2007 contract, will be delivered before the end of 2011.
