Emirates' announcement at the ILA air show in Berlin that it was buying another 32 Airbus A380s was just the latest bold statement of intent from a region's aviation sector that, despite the wobbles of 2008-09, is still the most dynamic and ambitious in the world. The financial crisis put a halt for a time to the Middle East's previously breakneck expansion. But the region is emerging from the downturn fast and is again hungry for skills from around the world as it continues to build its airlines and aviation infrastructure and create a thriving, high-end aerospace industry in which it eventually can offer fulfilling careers to its own young people.
