The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) has placed an order for a single Airbus Helicopters H225, which will bring its fleet of the type to 11 examples.

The rotorcraft will be used for security enforcement, territorial patrols, and disaster relief missions, says Airbus Helicopters in a statement.

“This follow-on order also re-affirms the confidence that JCG has in our helicopters,” says Guillaume Leprince, Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters in Japan.

“We are certain that the expanded fleet will continue to meet JCG’s exacting requirements. Airbus remains committed to ensuring the fleet’s high availability for all missions.”

In addition to the H225s, the JCG also operates a pair of AS332s.

Cirium's Fleets Analyzer shows that overall the JCG has 75 helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. Prominent helicopters types include 18 Leonardo AW139s, and 14 Sikorsky S-76s.

Prominent fixed wing types include nine Bombardier Dash-8 Q300 maritime patrol aircraft, and nine Beechcraft King Air 350s.
