Japan Airlines and Marubeni Corporation have launched a business jet venture focused on arranging charter flights.

The pair, which announced their business jet plans last year, have named the venture JAL Business Aviation (JALBA).

JALBA will focus on three areas: business jet charter services between overseas cities, charters out of Japan, and charters within Japan.

In a statement, JAL gives the example of a routing from Tokyo to London aboard a scheduled JAL flight, followed by business jet charters to Bologna, Toulouse, and then to Paris. From Paris, the passenger (s) take a scheduled flight back to Tokyo.

To facilitate the operation, JALBA will work with Jet Aviation, who will arrange flight and crew coordination, hangars, and maintenance.

“JALBA strives to offer services of the highest quality by not only arranging the charter flight as a mobility service, but by also being involved in all related business jet operation services, including aircraft management and maintenance.”
