Datuk Azman Yahya, a director at Malaysia Airlines largest shareholder Khazanah Nasional, has joined the AirAsia board as a non-independent, non-executive director as part of the partnership between the two Malaysian carriers confirmed today.

The move mirrors that of AirAsia chief executive Tony Fernandes, who has been appointed to the board of Malaysia Airlines as a non-independent, non-executive director, one of a string board changes announced by Malaysia Airlines today. The respective board changes will take effect on 11 August.

AirAsia, its long-haul unit AirAsia X and Malaysia Airlines today entered a comprehensive collaboration agreement covering wide-ranging future co-operation, which includes minority cross-ownership stakes.
