Luxaviation Group – one of the most notable non-exhibitors at EBACE – has chosen the show to announce a new hangar at its Zurich facility that will more than triple its capacity in the Swiss city.

The Luxembourg-based company, which owns ExecuJet, among other brands – also says four aircraft have joined its fleet this year, including a Gulfstream V and G650, as well as a Bombardier Challenger 650 and Embraer Phenom 300.

Luxaviation says the 5,000sq m (54,000sq ft) ExecuJet hangar at Zurich is double the size of its current facility. There is also an additional 10,000sq m of apron space.

Niclas von Planta, vice-president for Europe at ExecuJet, says: "Hangar space is in very high demand at Zurich airport, due to our cold, snowy winters."

The original hangar, called Bogenhanger or "bow hangar", after its arched roof, is architecturally protected. It was used from 1949 by Swissair.

Of the new aircraft to join the Luxaviation fleet, the Phenom and Challenger are available for charter.
