Malaysia Airports' net profits rose 9.4% in the first six months of the year to 192.7 million ringgit ($54.7 million).

Revenues at the national airports operator, which runs Kuala Lumpur International Airport, grew by 9.42% to 782.8 million ringgit.

Overall passenger movements grew by 1.96% to 23.55 million, while aircraft movements grew by 5.12% to 256,000, says Malaysia Airports.

"We gained additional rental revenue from the expanded low cost carrier terminal and retail space at KLIA's Contact Pier in the first six months of the year," says managing director Bashir Ahmad.
