Universal Avionics Systems Corporation is using NBAA to highlight upgrades to its avionics equipment that will enable aircraft to meet regulatory mandates set for 2020.
The Tucson-based company has received supplemental type certification from the Federal Aviation Administration for its UNS-1Xw SBAS flight management system (FMS) and Honeywell RCZ-833 transponders.
The certification means the equipment can meet US and European requirements that aircraft have automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) Out capability in 2020.
The certificate can be applied to aircraft made by Cessna, Beechcraft, Dassault, Learjet and Embraer, the company says.
In addition, Universal dealer Chicago Jet Group has received FAA authority to upgrade Falcon 50 cockpits with Universal's InSight Display System. The system provides required navigation performance (RNP) capability and ability to operate localiser performance with vertical guidance (LPV) approaches, the company says.
Universal announced in August it had received a type certificate for its Insight Display on Cessna Citation VII aircraft, and the company has a Citation VII on static display at the show, it says.
Universal's dealer Millennial Technologies has taken advantage of the approval, having recently won a deal to install the Insight system on a Citation VII.
Universal also says it has reached a deal with Jeppesen to integrate that company's airport mapping database into Insight.
