Sagem has signed new co-operation agreements which it hopes could lead to future deals involving its tactical unmanned air vehicle systems in Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

Sagem and Kazakhstan Engineering have signed a memorandum of co-operation covering the planned establishment of a joint venture "to produce, sell and market drone systems", the French company has announced.

Under a separate memorandum of agreement between the French company and the Chuguev Aircraft Repair Plant, it also "will establish an exclusive teaming arrangement on tactical drones in Ukraine". This will encompass "joint production and logistics support", it says.

Sagem is targeting potential requirements in both nations for UAVs capable of supporting defence, homeland security and border patrol missions, plus other applications. Both agreements remain subject to final authorisations from the French, Kazakh and Ukrainian governments.

The company's current equipment portfolio includes the Sperwer (below) and developmental Patroller systems.
