Experia Events has launched an air show in Singapore specialising in the civilian helicopter market.

The show will be called Rotorcraft Asia and the first iteration will be held from 18-20 April 2017, says Experia. It will be held at Changi Exhibition Centre, the same venue that hosts the Singapore Air Show, which Experia also organises.

“With the Asia Pacific region experiencing significant growth in the use of helicopters in civil aviation, it is an opportune time to launch a strategic global platform that enables key stakeholders and major players to tap into opportunities in the dynamic Asia-Pacific helicopter market,” says Leck Chet Lam, managing director of Experia.

Leck made the comments at a media event for journalists at Singapore’s Seletar Airport. Leck was accompanied by representatives of several companies involved the helicopter business, including Bell Helicopter, Airbus Helicopters, Honeywell, Safran Turbomeca, and StandardAero.

Leck estimates that the show will gather about 4,000 trade participants. It will feature an exhibition hall and helicopter static display. Key helicopter sectors it will address include emergency medical services, oil & gas, law enforcement, and VIP transport.

The company had originally announced that it would hold the first iteration of Rotorcraft Asia in September 2016, but decided to push it back to April 2017 after consulting with industry participants.

The next iteration of the Singapore Air Show will run from 16-21 February 2016.
