Airbus Military has entered into a firm contract with PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) to supply nine C-295 transport aircraft to Indonesia's ministry of defence.

The Indonesian air force will operate the aircraft, which will be designated the CN-295 in IAF service, said Airbus Military.

The deal involves a significant amount of Indonesian industrial participation. PTDI will manufacture the tail empennage as well as the rear fuselage and fuselage panels. The final assembly line will be located in Indonesia, and PTDI will also establish a service centre.

In IAF service the CN-295 will perform missions such as military transport, medical evacuation and humanitarian relief.
