V Australia, the long-haul division of Virgin Blue, has applied to fly daily services to Fiji using Boeing 777s.

"V Australia has applied for 1,267 seats per week on the Fiji route...and plans to operate daily 777 services," says Australia's International Air Services Commission.

The carrier already flies from Brisbane and Sydney to Los Angeles.

To obtain the total 2,527 seats required for the route, V Australia plans to use 1,260 seats that Pacific Blue Australia has applied to transfer to V Australia, says the IASC.

Virgin Blue owns 100% of VAustralia and Pacific Blue.

Fiji's national carrier Air Pacific and Pacific Blue operate 17 flights per week between Australia and Fijiaccording to Innovata. Air Pacific uses Boeing 747-400, Boeing 767-300and 737-800s;while Pacific Blue uses only 737-800s.
