GKN’s Fokker business is to design and carry out the completion on the Dutch government’s new Boeing Business Jet.
Under the contact, which was signed today at the show, the company will begin the project shortly at its Fokker Techniek facility at Woensdrecht, with scheduled delivery of the finished aircraft in 2019.
The BBJ – which will transport the royal family and government officials – is a successor to the Fokker 70 head-of-state aircraft which has been in service for more than 20 years.
The aircraft will be configured for 24 passengers – 12 VIP and 12 staff – and include a crew rest area and bathroom.
Fokker has partnered with Boeing before on BBJ completion projects. Hans Buthker, chief executive of Fokker, says Fokker Techniek employees are “very proud” to be working on the head-of-state jet.
