The Republic of Korea Air Force has formally taken delivery of its first Boeing E-737 Peace Eye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft.
The aircraft was handed over at the service's Ghimhae air base, where South Korea's eventual fleet of four aircraft will be based, the US airframer said.
Seoul's first Peace Eye aircraft arrived in South Korea in August, and underwent tests conducted by the nation's Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
"Peace Eye increases South Korea's self-defence capacity with powerful airborne-surveillance and battle-management capabilities, that will help enhance the security of the Korean peninsula," said Randy Price, Boeing programme manager.

The three remaining Peace Eye aircraft are undergoing modifications at Korea Aerospace Industries' facility in Sacheon. They will be delivered in 2012.
