The Vietnam Marine Police has taken delivery of the first of three Airbus Military C212-400 maritime patrol aircraft.

The second aircraft will be delivered later this year and the third in early 2012, said Airbus Military.

"The modernised C212-400 series incorporates the latest systems and technologies, such as a flight management system," said Airbus Military.

The aircraft will be used for coastal surveillance, monitoring of fisheries and other law enforcement roles.

Aircraft pilots and crews were trained at the Airbus Military training centre in Seville, Spain.
