Japanese start-up carrier Zipair Tokyo has equipped its first Boeing 787-8 aircraft with Jamco and Recaro seats.

This is configured with 290 seats across two classes, with Jamco supplying 18 full-flat seats in business class and 272 seats in economy class from Recaro.

None of the seats are equipped with personal entertainment monitors.

The carrier will launch on 14 May and previously indicated that its first service will be between Tokyo Narita and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, before adding Seoul Incheon in July.

It plans to expand its Asian network before commencing operations to the US west coast once it achieves ETOPS approval, which is targeted for 2021.

Zipair’s first two 787-8s will be from parent company Japan Airlines, and it plans to operate a fleet of ten 787s by 2024.
