Listening to employees' ideas and rewarding creative input has proved to be successful for Leicester, UK-based Mibert Precision, a part of Hampson Aerospace (Hall 3-B10).

By inviting staff to put proposals forward to improve the company, Mibert has made savings as a direct result of some suggestions.

It has also instilled its workers with the confidence to come forward by publicly commending staff with winning ideas.

Mibert manufactures precision-machined aerospace components, more than half of which are supplied to Rolls Royce. To maintain the vital contract with Rolls-Royce it was necessary for Mibert to reduce its prices by 10%, and by a further 5% year-on-year. "We have succeeded in doing this when many doubted it was possible," says Linda Shipley, logistics manager.

"With our improved efficiency and high staff morale the future looks very healthy for Mibert."
