Textron Aviation has taken time out from a globe-circling demonstration tour of its new Cessna Citation Longitude to make a debut at the Singapore air show.

Powered by twin Honeywell HTF7700L engines, the super-midsize business jet on show recently performed a 30-site tour of the USA and also stopped in Japan on its way to Changi.

It will then continue on to Australia, before routing back to its Wichita, Kansas home via multiple locations in Europe, says Kevin Steinert, senior manager technical marketing at Textron Aviation.

Certification is due "imminently", he says, ahead of service entry with an undisclosed customer later this year.

Meanwhile, the manufacturer is seeing considerable interest from potential customers in the Asia-Pacific region for its new Cessna SkyCourier.

Launched in a freighter configuration with an order of up to 100 units from FedEx, certification is targeted for 2020, says Rosa Lee Argotsinger, regional director of aftermarket sales.

"With the order from FedEx, customers all know that if they want one in the near future they need to put their name in the hat very soon," she says.

Work on the initial prototype of the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6-powered aircraft is under way, she adds.
