Air France has put its faith in the Collins Air Transport Division of Rockwell's Avionics and Communications by selecting it as preferred avionics supplier for its current fleet and for new aircraft. The agreement extends to the end of 2001.

Marc Veron, Air France Group's president and chief executive officer, says: "The continuous reduction of global cost is of utmost importance to Air France. All our suppliers are invited to reduce costs and to improve quality and services, day after day."

Gerard Breining, executive vice-president of purchasing and supplies of the Group, adds: "Collins has pro-actively answered Air France's expectations which is why this preferred supplier agreement between both companies will serve Air France's competitive objectives."

The complete suite of Collins avionics, including the Multi-Mode Receiver, will be installed on the Air France fleet. Under the agreement new Air France Airbus A340 and Boeing 777 aircraft will be equipped with Collins avionics.
