Information and data management services company IHS Enterprise Solutions is installing a web portal for the US Air Force to support delivery of USAF maintenance and repair procedures and other mission-critical, hyperlinked data. The deal includes the conversion of millions of pages of text, illustrations and data tables into electronic format. Rolls-Royce's aeromanager.com aftermarket-services web portal has gone live with 15 airline users. Designed by Rolls-Royce/Science Applications International joint-venture Data Systems & Solutions, aeromanager.com features interactive technical data, engine-health monitoring, engine leasing, repair logistics service and repair and overhaul slots information. Inital customers Air 2000, Air Atlanta Icelandic, Britannia, Cathay Pacific, China Southern Airlines, China Southwest, Garuda, Icelandair, Mandarin Airlines, South African Airlines and Xiamen Airlines will be joined by a further 11 airlines within two months. Harlow, UK, is the first Raytheon Systems site in Europe to use the Exostar business-to-business trading exchange being developed by BAE Systems, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Rolls-Royce. Raytheon's supplies department at Harlow used Exostar to conduct a reverse auction of printed circuit boards for Condor - Raytheon's monopulse secondary surveillance radar system. Electronic components and industrial products distributor Premier Farnell has gone live on Exostar with an "e-procurement" solution for BAE. The system allows Premier Farnell to supply BAE online through the Exostar exchange. Virgin Atlantic Airways has chosen Totality's site management and operational services to support on-line booking and flight information services. Snecma company Techspace-Aero is testing internet-solution firm Baan's iBaan Extended Product Lifecycle Collaboration tool, which automatically notifies suppliers of changes to product or part- related information via e-mail.
