Hamilton Sundstrand employs almost a quarter of its total global workforce in Europe. Over the years it has developed a number of joint ventures and acquired some famous aerospace names. The US-headquartered company now generates 43% of its sales outside of the USA, and President David Hess believes this will increase. This is the HS position in Europe.

  • Claverham Group of Bristol, UK, develops, manufactures and supports high-technology actuation systems for fixed and rotary wing aircraft, unmanned combat air vehicles (UCAV), missiles and land and sea vehicles. 
  • HS Marston of Wolverhampton, UK, manufactures heat transfer (heat exchangers and cold plates) and fluids management (tubes, hoses, couplings and manifolds) products. 
  • HS-Nauka in Moscow, Russia, is a joint venture with Russian company Nauka, with Hamilton Sundstrand holding the majority share. HS-Nauka manufactures aluminium heat exchangers for commercial aircraft.
  • HS Elektronik Systeme in Nordlingen, Germany, develops and manufactures electronic components and line replaceable module-level products primarily for power distribution systems.
  • Kidde Graviner in Colnbrook, UK, employs about 170 in the production and repair of aircraft, military vehicle and train fire detection and extinguishing equipment.
  • L'Hotellier SAS in Antony, France, employs about 90 in the production and repair of aircraft and military vehicle fire detection and extinguishing equipment.
  • Microtecnica of Turin, Italy, develops, manufactures and supports actuation, hydraulics and thermal control systems and pneumatic and engine components for both commercial and military applications.
  • Nord-Micro in Frankfurt, Germany, develops and manufactures cabin pressure control, ventilation control, flight control and air data systems as well as engine accessories. 
  • Ratier-Figeac of Figeac, France, develops and manufactures propellers, a wide range of actuators (including Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer Actuator) and cockpit controls equipment for commercial and military programmes. 
  • WFEL of Stockport, UK, employs about 230 in the production of transportable military bridges and specialised rods for the nuclear power industry.

Hamilton Sundstrand also operates overhaul, repair and distribution facilities in Amsterdam, Dijo, Caudebec-en-Caux, Maastricht, and Shannon.
