For many years, people in aviation wondered whether the day would ever dawn when British Airways' Colin Marshall (now Lord Marshall of Knightsbridge) and Airbus' Jean Pierson would append their signatures to the same object. And then never did... until now. The guy who persuaded them to bury the hatchet and sign together is Hong Kong-based Martin Craigs who is executive vice-president/Asia of BAE Systems. Needless to say they had no hesitation in attaching their monikers to a model of Concorde which will be auctioned for charity in December. Other signatures on the model - donated by UK company Space Models - are Sir Ralph Robins (Rolls-Royce) and BA's current main man Rod Eddington.

The Hong Kong auction will be conducted live and on-line via Yahoo Asia and there will be at least six lots on sale. Martin says that he expects bids in excess of $5,000 for the signed Concorde model. All proceeds will be donated to Project Orbis, the charity which runs the DC-10-based international flying eye hospital.
