Goodrich Aerospace, the sole manufacturer of the landing gear for the Boeing 747, has been catching attention and reeling in the visitors with an aquarium on its stand in Hall 4/D5.

The American firm is offering a little peace and quiet amid the frenetic activity of the Farnborough show.

The fish on show, though, are very special.

They need very little maintenance - they don't need feeding, there is no need to clean the tank or change the water, for the aquarium is a virtual one.

"Watching fish shimmying through aquatic plants provides a quiet interlude and is very relaxing," explains communications director Brayton Harris.

"It attracts plenty of attention as people pause and reflect."

The idea came from a trade show in Geneva as Brayton explains: "I first saw the NEC virtual tanks, with multi-media fish, at a trade show in Geneva and decided that it would be something different and unusual."
