Payment suspension

Canadian Airlines suspended C$135 million ($92 million) in payments to creditors on 2 February, the same day that new owner Air Canada reported operating profits of C$503 million for the year ended 31 December, against C$359 million in 1998. Creditors are owed close to C$3.5 billion.
