Qatar Airways has started operating its newly received Boeing 787 on commercial routes, deploying the aircraft on four daily services from Doha to Dubai.

The first regional flight took off on 20 November, while long-haul services to London Heathrow airport are due to begin in December.

Qatar has ordered 30 General Electric GEnx-1B-powered 787s, with options for a further 30 aircraft. The airline has also expressed interest in upgrading its orders to the proposed double-stretch 787-10X variant.
