Qatar Airways expects to have eight Airbus A350s in its fleet before the end of next year.

The airline has 80 of the type on order, including 43 of the initial -900 variant.

It is to take the first by the end of this year, putting it on the Doha-Frankfurt route, and increase the fleet to eight within 12 months.

Chief executive Akbar Al Baker says the carrier is demonstrating a “commitment to quality and comfort” with the introduction of the A380 and the A350.

Its first A380 entered service on the London Heathrow route earlier this month.

With new links to Djibouti and Asmara, Qatar Airways will have 146 destinations by the end of this year.
