-Malaysia Airlines has inaugurated its new thrice weekly service to New York's Newark Airport via Dubai, its third North American destination and its first to the US East coast.
-Northwest Airlines is to launch a twice weekly non-stop service between Las Vegas and Tokyo from June, taking further advantage of the recent new Japan-USA bilateral agreement.
-United Airlines will add a daily nonstop service between Chicago O'Hare and Buenos Aires from 9 September with continuing service to Montevideo, Uruguay. The route is the fifth nonstop flight the major US airline has added recently to Latin America, and will be operated with a Boeing 767-300ER.
-EVA Airways signed a codeshare agreement with America West on 17 April, which will initially take effect on America West flights from San Francisco and Los Angeles to Phoenix and to Las Vegas.
-Sabena is to offer daily services between Brussels and Stansted from 17 May, operated by a Virgin Express Boeing 737.
-CityFlyer Express will cease operating between London Gatwick and Antwerp on 1 May, leaving VLM the only airline flying between Antwerp and London. ++ British Airways franchisee British Mediterranean Airways is adding an additional fortnightly flight to Yarevan, via Tbilisi, and is now operating its Damascus service direct.
-Gill Airways has signed an agreement with MUK Air to codeshare on the Danish airlne's Copenhagen-Newcastle service. Gill has also extended its partnership with Air Kilroe of Manchester, UK to codeshare on its routes to Teesside, UK and Galway in Ireland, operated with British Aerospace Jetstream 31s.
-Delta Air Lines and Sabena are to codeshare on routes between Brussels and Conakry, Guinea, and Bunjul, Gambia, from early June.
-UPS is to operate a Boeing 727 freighter from London Stansted to its European hub in Cologne.
-British Airways and Qantas have extended codesharing to cover services through Bangkok, Thailand.
