Citilink has signed a contract with RBS Aviation Capital for the lease of four new Airbus A320s, scheduled to start later this year.
The transaction marks the airline's first brand new A320s. The Garuda Indonesia subsidiary currently operates three used A320s from AerCap.
It has a backlog of 25 A320s due for delivery between 2014 and 2018 and will receive six A320s on lease from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) in 2013.
Under the terms of the RBS Aviation Capital deal, the first A320 will arrive in Jakarta in November this year. Citilink will receive the remaining three aircraft by February 2013.
"With this expanded fleet, Citilink will become a major airline in Indonesia. Garuda will then focus on full service customers, while Citilink will focus on budget travellers," said Garuda Indonesia chief executive Emirsyah Satar.
