Modification work has begun in China on the first Boeing 747-400 passenger aircraft that will be converted into a freighter under Boeing's Special Freighter (SF) programme. The first aircraft will be for Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific Airways. Modification work is being performed by Taikoo Aircraft Engineering (TAECO) in Xiamen. Cathay last year became launch customer for the 747-400SF programme with an agreement to have at least six and as many as 12 aircraft converted.
