Brazil's financially troubled Transbrasil suffered another blow recently when a second Boeing 767-300ER leased to the carrier by Pegasus was grounded during a stopover in Miami. Transbrasil has already reduced the size of its fleet and network, and turned an operating loss of $12 million in the first quarter of 2000 into a profit of $1 million this year. It made an operating loss of $106 million on turnover of $396 million in 2000. But it faces further disruption as its other lessors, AWAS and GECAS, also try to recover their aircraft.
