Virgin America will launch three daily flights between Los Angeles and Las Vegas from 22 April, says a source at the company.

The new service is the Burlingame, California-based low-cost carrier's third new route in 2013, following the launch of flights between Newark and both Los Angeles and San Francisco on 2 April.

American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines and United Airlines fly between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, according to Innovata schedules.

Virgin America serves Las Vegas nonstop from San Francisco.
