Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport remains closed following yesterday's emergency gear-up landing of a LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 767-300ER.

The airport said that work is underway "to remove the disabled plane from the runway so that flights can be resumed as quickly as possible".

LOT has cancelled all flights that were due to depart before 16:00 local time today, affecting 60 departures in total.

Flight LO 016, en route from New York Newark to Warsaw, was carrying 220 passengers and 11 crew members when it was forced to make an emergency landing yesterday after the aircraft's landing gear failed to deploy.

LOT yesterday cited "central hydraulic failure" as a reason behind the emergency landing.

The airline could not immediately be reached for further comment.
