Scandinavian regional carrier Wideroe is to step up to jet operation, having opted to take up to 15 Embraer 190-E2 re-engined aircraft.

The agreement comprises three firm jets and purchase rights on a further 12, the Brazilian airframer states, with deliveries commencing in 2018.

Wideroe has been an all-turboprop operator, with a fleet entirely comprising Bombardier Dash 8s.

Its switch to arch-rival Embraer comes four years after the Norwegian regional airline was divested by former owner SAS Group.

Wideroe is to operate the 190-E2s with a single-class configuration featuring 114 seats.
