Adani Group has emerged as the highest bidder for concessions being offered for six airports in India.

The Indian conglomerate offered the highest per passenger fee to the Airports Authority of India for the operation, maintenance and development of Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru airports.

It was a competitive process, with Ahmedabad and Jaipur airports each attracting seven bids, and Lucknow and Guwahati six. Three proposals were received for Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru, respectively.

GMR Infrastructure was the only party to lodge proposals for all six concessions, while AMP Capital and Zurich Airport International were also under-bidders on some of the airports.

Local media reports say that the letter of award will be issued on 28 February, with the concessions fixed at 50 years.

Headquartered in Ahmedabad, Adani has various businesses in the resources, agribusiness, real estate, financial services, and defence sectors. The six concessions represent its first foray into operating airports.
