Pilatus has delivered a single PC-12 NGX turboprop to the German military’s WTD 61 aeronautical test and evaluation unit.

To be operated from Manching air base in Bavaria, the asset – with the registration 98+01 – “will support standardisation training for the test pilots of the German armed forces”, the Swiss airframer says.

Swiss-built PC-12 NGX will support test pilot training and perform transport tasks for the Germany military’s WTD 61 unit

“The PC-12 will help us to perform our training and transport tasks efficiently and safely,” adds WTD 61 director Barbara Reinhold.

Berlin’s order also covers the provision by Pilatus of in-service support.

“The outstanding versatility, modern avionics and proven reliability of the PC-12 make it optimally suited to meet the requirements of the German armed forces,” says Ioannis Papachristofilou, vice-president government aviation at Pilatus.

WTD 61 is responsible for evaluating new equipment and system updates for the Bundeswehr’s aviation fleet, including on the Eurofighter and Panavia Tornado combat aircraft, and other platforms such as the Airbus Helicopters H145 and Tiger.
