With a change of name, a transformed product base and two recent takeovers under its belt, Goodrich Aerospace Europe is at the show to promote its transformation.

Formerly BC Goodrich, which sold car tyres, chemicals and aerospace products, the company sold off the tyre business to Michelin and dropped the "BC". The result, claims the company, has been a big increase in business. Previously the aerospace market accounted for about 7% of the company¹s business, worth around $220 million a year.

With the sell-off behind it, Goodrich has been able to concentrate on its aerospace and chemical products. The aerospace side now accounts for 84% of Goodrich¹s business, worth $3.7 billion.

Products on the Goodrich stand include Grid-Lock, a lightweight, rivet-free metal sheet designed for use on cargo aircraft to isolate the flight deck from the cargo from the freight, and SmartDeck, a compact flight deck for regional aircraft. Also on show is seating for commercial and, thanks to Goodrich's take-over of Russian manufacturer Zvedva, military aircraft, plus Hubble Space Telescope technology from Rathan Optical Systems, which was incorporated into Goodrich seven months ago.

"We're much more focused on the aerospace industry because its now our core business," says development and communications manager Jean-Michel Janniere. "We're in a great position to further pursue our acquisitions strategy, both in new market niches and in areas where we're already present."
