LOT Polish Airlines will next year extend its US network with the launch of flights from Warsaw to Washington Dulles.

The airline will operate the Dulles route three times per week from 2 June 2020 using Boeing 787s, the US airport has disclosed.

“A direct flight from Warsaw to Washington DC has long been on our shortlist,” states LOT chief executive Rafal Milczarski. “New long-haul flights to the USA are the backbone of our strategy, and announcing the new connection to Washington now certainly is not our last word.”

Washington will become the Polish flag carrier’s sixth directly served destination in the USA when the service launches, Cirium schedules data shows. In October, LOT announced that it would begin serving San Francisco from Warsaw four times weekly in August 2020. That will give the airline a seventh direct link with the country.

LOT will also begin operating between Krakow and New York in summer 2020, as well as increasing the frequency of its Chicago service from the same Polish city.

Cirium fleets data shows that LOT operates eight 787-8s and seven 787-9s. It has one further -9 on order.
