Middle Eastern carrier Emirates is to transfer its Zagreb route temporarily to Flydubai, taking advantage of capacity flexibility offered by the airlines’ partnership.

Emirates operates Boeing 777-300ERs daily on the route to the Croatian capital.

But Flydubai will take over the sector on 2 December and operate the route through the winter season until 30 March, when the link reverts to Emirates.

“The move will ensure that capacity is deployed to best serve customer demand,” says Emirates.

Flydubai will use Boeing 737 Max 8s for the service. The daily operation will effectively halve capacity on the route.

The two airlines agreed a strategic partnership last year, including codesharing, aimed at optimising their networks.

Emirates says the codeshare has extended to more than 90 destinations with “several more to follow”.
